New Way Academy takes a specialized approach to educating students with learning differences. We consider the unique needs and strengths of each student as we develop Individualized Education Plans (IEP’s) that help remediate deficits while developing talents and celebrating successes.
Each student's educational plan is developed after the New Way team evaluates classroom performance, cognitive ability, educational achievement, learning style, language skills, and motor development. Students are assigned to homeroom groupings based on age and social development while academic classes are grouped according to learning needs. Class sizes are small to provide intensive support.
Teachers use multi-sensory teaching techniques, evidence based curriculums, and specialized interventions to help students progress academically. Structured, multisensory reading programs are available for students with dyslexia and reading disorders. Speech and language therapy, adaptive P.E., art, occupational therapy and social skills training are also provided on-site.
